Welcome to the United States Amateur Tug of War Association (USATOWA) website

Our mission is to provide a website that is designed to educate, inform and celebrate current and future individuals wanting to participate in the little-known competitive sport of TUG OF WAR.  Tug of War within the United States can trace it early roots back to the time of the first immigrates from Europe where Tug of War was, and still is today very commonplace.

Our mission for the past forty-five (45) years and well into the future is to provide the information, structure and good governance necessary for the well-being and development of the sport of Tug Of War within the United States of America.  It is our intent to prepare athletes, coaches, judges and officials with the necessary skills and information they need to compete successfully, at the world level in accordance with the Tug of War International Federation known as TWIF.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of our Executive Board Members or individual Tug Of War clubs!  Come check us out!

Joe Hunter

President USATOWA

We are all very saddened by the loss of Shelby Richardson, our President, competitor, friend and teammate. Words cannot express our loss and our thoughts are with the Richardson family and friends. In honor of her memory, her family has started a scholarship for members advancing their education in any way. This scholarship is due July 31st.

USATOWA would like to extend the invitation to all members of our assocation who are participating in higher education to apply for our Rudy Kopp Scholarship. This includes further education for a current degree or all stages of college. We are very excited to have two scholarships this year. This is our scholarship which Nancy A. Kopp & Kathy Wells have done the awesome work of putting together for us.  The due date is July 7th, and this year there is a separate form at the end for your coaches to fill out.
